I came to Orcas Island as a tourist in the summer of 1978. I was immediately enchanted with the island and decided it was where I wanted to be. I began working at Rosario Resort, where I met my husband. We were married in the spring of 1979. Our first son was born one year later, and our second son arrived two years after that. We built our home in Olga, and moved into it in 1984. After our boys graduated from high school, I decided it was time for me to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming an esthetician, so I began attending Greenwood Academy (in Seattle) in 2002. That summer I successfully completed my education there (although the real learning never ends), became licensed, and began doing skin care. Although I've had many other types of work in my lifetime, esthetics has been the absolute right fit for me. I love learning about skin care, about products, about procedures, but mostly I love the hands-on nurturing that takes place between me and my clients. Nothing can take the place of that touch, that connection with another human being. It's a blessing for me to be able to do what I love doing.
